Started by Kara Vavrosky, RDH, Dental Hygiene Answers is a question and answer platform specifically made for Dental Hygienists. While running her Facebook page, Dental Hygiene with Kara RDH, Kara saw a need for a place where hygienists could ask their fellow hygienists questions. To provide visibility to these questions beyond Facebook, Dental Hygiene Answers was born.
Do you have a question that you have had trouble finding an answer for? Are you curious about what other hygienists feel about your problem with a patient or a dilemma you are facing at work? Ask a question related to being a dental hygienist and get a response from other knowledgeable hygienists. Unlike Facebook, you don’t need to use your real name as your username, so you can feel comfortable asking a question without worrying about your friends, family, or co-workers seeing what you ask. Beyond asking a single question, you have the opportunity to explain it more in depth to further explain what you are asking.
While the opinion of one person can be extremely helpful, the opinions and knowledge of many is even more valuable. Take some time to browse through the questions that have already been asked and contribute to the conversation. The more answers given, the knowledge base of the hygiene community becomes even stronger. You may be surprised that the knowledge you have will be very helpful to a fellow hygienist. Give enough good answers and earn a Gold Star next to your name.
Every time you ask or answer a question you earn a point. If your answers is chosen as the best answer to a question, you earn 2 points. The more points you earn the higher you will appear on the Leader Board. As a bonus, from time to time we will be rewarding hygienists who provide top notch answers.
In order to keep this community fun and professional, we ask that you abide by a few simple rules.
- Be courteous and professional at all times. If you don’t like a question or agree with an answer, reply in a professional manner. Debate is encouraged, but as professionals it is important to act accordingly.
- Don’t spam Dental Hygiene Answers with links to your business or to affiliate linked sites. This site is a resource for Dental Hygienists, not a space to advertise your business or product without prior approval. If you have a business or product that you think would be beneficial to Dental Hygienists, you can contact Kara on her Facebook page.
- Please try to avoid discussing specific salary and pay rates unless you give your specific location. Wages vary widely depending on where you live. If you are really curious what the average pay rate is for your area, visit your State’s Employment Department or Bureau of Labor’s website, and you can find up-to-date information for your local area.
- Have fun and learn something new! Dental Hygiene Answers is here to empower you as a hygienist. Learning doesn’t stop once you are done with school. The more you know as a hygienist, the better patient care you will be able to give, and you will be an all around stronger team member at your office.
