CE’s paid and wage when in classes?

I was wondering if your doc sends you to a class does he pay your wages for that day? What if the class is on a day you normally don’t work like the weekend. Does he still pay you? Does your Doc pay for the cost of the course if he asked you to go? I am in Portland Oregon and my doc pays for my classes and all travel arrangements but he won’t pay for my wages when I am in class even if he told me I needed to do to the class.

You are lucky you pays for your travel arrangements and cost of CEs. I get NO benefits like that where I work. I pay everything myself with no reimbursement and he never asks me to take a course. The only thing he does for the office as a whole is pay for our CPR course. So feel blessed with what your Doc is doing because if could be worst and him not paying for anything.

I too am in Oregon. Most classes I take are at convention or on Fridays/Saturdays, which I am normally off. My Dr pays for all my CE no matter who’s idea it was. I am pd wages only if it’s a normal work day for me.

I receive 25 hours paid education leave every two years. I initially pay for my classes travel and lodging but am reimbursed once I submit my receipts. CPR recertification is also arranged for staff at no cost. I also receive reimbursement for license renewal.

Consider yourself lucky to have anything paid. I have to pay everything. Not just CE`s, but travel costs, cpr recertification, license renewals, adha dues, ect. I’m happy to have a job where I can pay those but it can get pretty tight…. :-\

Our doctor pays for the CE courses, and pays us the day we would have normally worked. Often we are out of town on the weekend due to this, so she will also take us to IKEA and to dinner so we get to do something fun on our education vacation! 😀

My doctor give a standard $100 bucks for that day we do not work and he will cover the cost of the CE course. Hw will also take everyone out to eat to talk about it after because he loves to talk.

If a CE falls on my regular work day I will be compensated. If it’s on my off day I am not compensated. I pay for my CE that I personally want to attend and my work pays for CE that they want me to attend.

currently my boss pays for my CE classes regardless if it is my idea to take the class or his. If we happen to go out of the area where hotel expense is involved he also pays for the hotel. and will treat for dinner or lunch at least each day we are there. But I do not get paid no matter what day of the week it is. Although in the past of have been paid for my day while taking a CE class along with gas expense, paying for the class and lodging. So be happy he helps with something because you could get nothing. I have been lucky that I have always gotten some type of benefit and I am grateful for what ever they provide.

I have worked in other offices where we got paid our wages too if we went to a class if the doc requested us to go. This was my first experience at an office that doesn’t pay. I definitely am thankful that he wants to invest in my education and feels I am worth it. I was curious what the norm seemed to be on this topic.

Our office policy is..If we take a CE class whether he wants us to or we initiate it, he pays for the class. If it is out of town he will pay for CE and lodging. He does pay any wages.

Our doc will typically pay for our ceus as long as he thinks it is a worthwhile class for us to attend(he usually does). We do not get paid if we take the off to go to class though unless we take a vacation day.

My DDS pays for the class, not my wage. She prefers, as do I, to take classes on non work days/ Also the Monday after the class we have a working lunch (paid) and discuss what pearls I took away from the class,

I pay for CE classes and do not get paid if I miss work. The only time CE classes are paid by my employer is if the class is done for our all of offices.

I don’t get CE courses paid for and as an office we never go to any CE classes together. I never receive any suggestions from employer either. I am also required to pay for my own CPR cuz it’s part of license requirement but the dental assistants and other office staff get their CPR paid for.

I get $100.00 per year to use towards CE. We also have CPR recertification as an office. I do not get paid for my time for any of the classes. It is required that I have it for my licence renewal so he feels it isn’t necessary to pay us. I also get licence renewal paid for.
