In my office all new patients are sent forms to fill out before they come in. If the patient has not filled out the forms, we try contacting them as a gentle reminder and even ask that they come in earlier than the appointment time. I think this helps. In my office we also see all new patients for 2 hours unless the patient refuses and has to be seen in less time. This way we can do a comprehensive exam and prophy etc on the patient without rushing.

Question: What is your office's protocol for teenagers in ortho treatment? | June 4, 2014
Honestly I would ask my boss and not feel bad about it because thats the reason we call it “a practice” New gadgets come out every day and no one knows it all. If your boss ordered it he must have been told this is what hygienist like or its what he likes. I believe starting with an open working relationship is key and the patients will be happier with you using the correct working end:)

I wear my nail short and usually have a pale pink or neutral color on:) If you want to wear it just do it but be professional and stick with neutral colors.
Question: Do you wear nail polish at work? | June 4, 2014
usually I recommend 10 days only 2 times a day, swish for 30 seconds. I inform the patients of staining. Recently I have been unhappy with the generalized staining and I’m looking for something else to offer pts
Question: How long do you recommend patients use Chlorhexidine mouthrinse? | June 4, 2014
I do not polish any restorations, however I do take impressions and pour up impressions from time to time. I also will re-cement temporary crowns, take panoramic X-rays and anything Im allowed to do if I have no patient. I personally enjoy it. I am only doing these extra things if I have no patient and the front office is handling recare all day.
Question: job duties | June 4, 2014
Im happy to hear that the practice likes you. I think being a team player at all times will make a difference. Offering you help around the office on down time will be appreciated and will make you stand out. Don’t compete with her. Compete with YOURSELF:)
Question: Co-worker competition | June 4, 2014
wow thats a very difficult situation to be in. I do not think its your responsibility to inquire about weight but at the same time the office should have a way to maybe refer these patients to a clinic thats equipped without being rude or hurting any ones feelings.
Question: Asking patients about their weight. | June 4, 2014
I believe dentrix software always comes with a tutorial CD. Ask your office manager to borrow it sometime its a great way to catch up at home and come back to work ready to kick butt!
