Speed & Accuracy Tips

Anybody have any tips or tricks to keep a fairly quick pace while being thorough during a patient visit? I just become frustrated with the length of time it takes me to complete a patient (I am just beginning Senior year). I am trying to stay positive and calm, and remember I am still learning. Thanks.

The biggest advice I can give you is to be patient with yourself. Speed comes with practice. You still have plenty of time to get practice under your belt. Everyday you will get faster and more efficient as you work through an appointment. Trying to rush the process (no pun intended) has the possibility to backfire – less than thorough scaling, rushing through health history, etc. You don’t want to gain bad habits right off the bat because you are overly worried about getting faster. Here is another question asked regarding speeding up that you may find helpful: http://www.dentalhygieneanswers.com/being-slow/
