SRP 5mm pkts

Was wondering what people do with patients that have pocketing but no sub calc. Do you SRP and send patient with mouth rinse/ rubber tip/ floss? Or what are some other techniques to help improve these areas.

What do you do in these areas when doing 4342 SRP?

I agree, there is still plaque and bacteria in the pocket even if you aren’t feeling calculus. The pocket needs to be cleaned out and that includes the root surface so that the tissues can heal and minimize the pocket depth.

Usually if there’s a pocket, there’s calculus. Or at least a good amount of plaque and some bleeding. If they are pseudo pockets, then I would still scalle and irrigate well with the ultrasonic scaler. Maybe recommend a water flosser. You’ll likely see a lot of improvement when they return for recare.
