ways to increase hygiene production and build value for perio maintenance visits

Has anyone found any easy ways to increase hygiene production? My schedule has been light lately and there is new ownership of the office I’m at. I am getting a little worried about my job security.

I have been looking at some in office whitening that can be done the same day as a prophy. Has anyone used a system like this? We already offer FL, Arestin, in office whitening, take home bleach trays and night guards.

Also, how do you keep your perio patients committed to more frequent recalls after they have undergone SRP? I use visual aids to describe the disease process during patient care but our office has no supplemental brochures, take home info, etc. Sometimes I think this is detrimental to compliance. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I would try to find some free perio pamphlets to give it patients. We also do follow up calls after any SRP, just to see how patient is doing & encourage POI for soreness & hygiene- also asking if they have any more questions for us. We have a pretty good retention rate for post SRP’s. I also let patients know during their first visit of SRP that afterwards we will likely be doing more frequent appointments than every 6 months to maintain all the hard work we’ve been doing.
We do zoom whitening at my office but it does require an appointment due to the needed assistant time. How about selling take home whitening strips (like crest), we do that but we are able to get higher concentration than the OTC ones sold in stores. Patients seem to like those.
