A diagnostic radiographic image exhibits proper density and contrast, has sharp outlines, etc. A diagnostic radiograph is also free from errors. Common errors that occur when taking a pano are: ghost images, lead apron artifacts, and patient positioning (tongue and lips, Frankfort plane upward or downward, teeth anterior or posterior to focal trough, midsagittal plane, and spine).
