At our office we have a Groupon for our in office whitening out right now. A lot of the patients already have a DDS but we recruit a good amount as well. We also go to surrounding bigger businesses around the area that we know carry dental insurance that we accept and give goodie bags (toothbrush, DDS description, floss, toothpaste).

With every new patient cleaning/x-rays/exam we offer free custom made whitening trays or an electric toothbrush. If a patient refers another to our office we give our current patient a free in office whitening, whitening trays, or a gift card to a surrounding business.

I work for an office that has had a lot of turnover in Dr’s since the previous owner retired 3 years ago. Because of that we are now trying to grow the practice again and trying new ways to do so. I hope we start seeing fuller schedules soon! It’ll be nice to hear what other offices are doing as well.

We put an ad in the local movie theatre that plays before movies. We also have an ad in a local Hispanic magazine. We have gone to the county fair too and handed out goodie bags with a referral card in it.

In Oregon, you are not legally allowed to offer gifts for referrals. You can give after the fact, but not “entice” current patients to refer with any monetary items.

I’m in Oregon, like Sue Halverson, and Groupons are a big no-no for dentistry!

We offer free whitening to new patients, after they complete any necessary restorative. We also hand out referral cards to our existing patients. If they refer a new pt their name goes into a quarterly drawing for $500 visa gift card.

We have a $59 coupon for new pts ( includes: exam $20.00 X-rays $20.00, & prophy $19.00) that’s the coupon break down. However I of course do a perio eval, diagnodent, charting, & intra oral pics but those are things that are no charge regardless. If the pt wants to do the Velscope it’s an extra $26.00 & fluoride is an extra $25.00 if the pt turns out to be a perio pt & needs Srp the $19.00 from the prophy on the coupon will be applied toward the Srp tx. Also as have $1 whitening coupons for new pts as well mailed out but this is only for the trays and one syringe of gel. If they want more gel it’s $60.00 for the stuff we carry.
