I have a Sonicare toothbrush box sitting on my counter in my hygiene room and a lot of patients will ask questions about it, especially when waiting for the Dr. This will usually lead me to talking about its benefits. We also keep ours priced right around retail as an incentive to patients. Also if I find that a patient will benefit from one during hygiene tx I will discuss its benefits and let the pt know we have them in our office for sale to save them a trip to the store. I don’t pressure or push them on my patients, I just make sure they are aware of the benefits versus a manual toothbrush. I don’t like to sell items but usually the toothbrushes sell themselves.

Keeping them where patients can see them provides opportunities for questions about them. When I initially meet patients I ask them what their wants are in terms of health/cosmetics..etc. Giving them the best tools to meet those needs and goals should make your job easier and their time in the chair more enjoyable. Have some reps come into your office and better describe their products (sometimes they even buy you all lunch!) That way you’re well informed and can really “sell” the item
