I try to keep from scheduling SRP’s back to back. Or if there is a patient that takes a little longer than usual or one who frequently runs late I try to put them before someone I know has good hygiene that doesn’t take too long just in case I run behind. But as long as the hygienist has two rooms to work out of, can stay on time for the most part, and has a good assistant to get your patient ready for you before you come in the room then it should run pretty efficiently.
With an assistance we overlap 10 minutes for her to take x-rays and diagnodent, and medical history. I spend a full 40 minutes with my patient, perio charting, OHI and cleaning, and sealants if need be. Assistant assists in dentist exam while I am on to next room.
I simply alternate rooms….8 am operatory 1/ patient A
9am operatory 2/ patient B
10 am operatory 1/ patient C
I write notes on the bracket tray cover as to what I want to review,…and if no RDH asst is avail to change over my room, I excuse myself before DDS comes in for the exam and clean the other op.
