I have recently began my own practice/business where I treat people in care facilities. I am in Oregon and we have an expanded practice certification that allows us to work independently.
So far, the marketing has been the most difficult aspect. Many family members and care-givers of my patients don’t see the need for oral health care. The patients however are lovely and I am feeling accomplished and wonderful about helping those with limited access. 🙂
Our local boys n girls club has a dental clinic for school age children. It is free and run by volunteers. I volunteer there on Fridays a few times throughout the year. The club sent flyers to local offices seeking volunteers.
I just became a professional educator for Water Pik. I am so excited to be part of an awesome company. I have used and recommended the water flosser for years. I have a bachelors degree in dental hygiene and am getting my masters so more doors will open. Keep educating yourself. It helps.
