Arestin / Period Chip Placement at SRP’s

When diagnosing and treating with SRP’s are most offices treatment planning and placing Arestin or Period Chip at the time of SRP? How about irrigation with CHL at time of SRP, charging per quadrant yes or no?

Our office tends to place the Arestin during the 4/6 wks FU evaluation in case there is pocket reduction. Doctor doesn’t charge for irrigation.

If I were to use Perio Chip or Arestin it would be during the first and subsequent Perio Maintenance appts. You need to see how much healing you’ve obtained with the initial S/RP and retreat any areas not responding to treatment and place the Perio chip or Arestin at the 6-8 week re-eval and when necessary thereafter. That’s my opinion……others may place during initial S/RP.

We use the arestin at the perio scaling appointment. We try to get the patient pharmacy coverage so there the out of pocket is low but charge a placement fee. If they pay for the arestin in office there is no placement fee. We will also use site specific placement at perio maintenance appointments. We irrigate all aresd at perioscaling appointments and at maintenacnce appointments at no charge
