I have not had much luck with any denture cleaners that you can soak the denture in and put in a baggie in the ultrasonic shaker for 15 minutes, that will remove calculus. Scaling dentures can cause small scratches that can accumulate even more bacteria. If you must scale or use an ultrasonic (lightly) the acrylic will need to be polished/buffed to remove the scratches. I haven’t read much on it, but I wonder if using something like an implant ultrasonic tip (ie: Dentsply SofTip) would cause less scratching. Just a thought. Otherwise, the patient can use a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water and soak the denture in it overnight. If the calculus is really heavy it may take multiple overnight soaks. The most important thing here is to educate the patient on denture care so calculus doesn’t build up in the first place.

For at home use i recommend Kleenite. It’s great for retainers, occlusal guard, dentures, sleep appliances etc…
I’ll look on Monday what I use at the office.
