Please help! Our office recently switched from the EMS brand air polishers to the Dentsply prophy jet version. We HATE them. We are following every manufacturer recommendation yet the tips continue clogging during use or excessively blowing powder at the handle junction. Apparently we are the only office in the country having problems because everyone at Dentsply seems to be baffled by our recurrent issues. Anyone familiar with these units and have any suggestions, recommendations or similar problems? Sincerely, frustrated hygienist}
We were having an issue with this for a little while. We always make sure the cleaning wire is put through and autoclave the tip with the wire in it. We also wipe off the tip and never place in the ultrasonic. As far as the excessive blowing of air you’ve got me stumped on that one. We had leaking water at the junction and we replaced the o-ring and that worked for us.
I’ve never had this problem. I empty my powder at the end of each day, use a disposable surgical suction tip to vacuum out residual, replace lid and purge hand piece. I also do as above and place wire autoclavable part in prior to sterilization. Good luck. Call your local rep, they should be willing to send someone out.
Edit--- we were having an issue with clogging.
