I’ve used both products. I like Oraqix best. It works in any pocket depth. If a pt has “zings” from on the root surface Oraqix will not help. It lasts 5-40 minutes sometimes longer. I have found that people who love sour candy will not mind the bitter taste of Oraqix. People who hate sour candy will hate the taste, but if they truly need Oraqix they usually don’t mind the taste. Cetacaine is okay, but it gets really gooey and thick white remnants are everywhere. Not sure if it’s tissue sloughing or not. It tastes more like putrid bubblegum. Oraqix…..if pt has not eaten anything they will metabolize it faster and you will have to use more to keep them numb longer.
