Examination vs endorsement when applying for license?

Hi I’ll be graduating in may from a Hawaii program. I might move to Virginia. Can someone explain what is applying by examination vs endorsement? And do I need prior job experience before I can apply for a Virginia license? Thanks 🙂

If you have never been licensed before you apply by examination. Applying by endorsement means you have a license in another state and have already taken boards. If you have specific questions regarding the application process you should contact the Board of Dentistry for the state you are applying for. Also, means you are still a student, your instructors would be a good resource for answering any questions. Here is a link for the Virginia Board of Dentistry dental hygiene application instructions: https://www.license.dhp.virginia.gov/apply/Forms/Dentistry/DenHyg_InstrForms.pdf
