Fair Benefits Across the Board

Ok…. Not to sound too petty… But my place of employment reimburses us for our health insurance up to a certain amount. I have recently been advised that there are several in the office that get 3 times as much as I do.. I am a hard worker, and don’t complain too much… But one of the people that gets more than me is a new hire, front desk with no previous dental experience? I am hurt by this and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to approach this subject with my boss, as I know the discussion of salary and benefits among coworkers is a big no-no…. Please give advice on how to handle this!

Tough one. I would take your production, pay and benefits and compare it to the local area. The state employment office has pay rates. If you are below the norm, that is what I would center the convo with your boss about. Each employee is normally responsible to get the pay they feel they deserve. Benefits are somewhat different though. Those should be standard across the board, based on hours worked.

Aw sorry to hear that. It’s tricky to bring up because of confidentiality. Doesn’t make sense though. Are you sure the info is accurate? You don’t sound petty; I would feel exactly the same.
