How long did it take you to feel comfortable detecting caries?

I’ve been working for about a year, and sometimes I still don’t feel very comfortable detecting decay or suspicious areas. Obviously I know as a hygienist I cannot diagnose, but sometimes I feel like the dentist finds things that should have been obvious to me. i hate when I tell a patient everything looks good, then the dentist comes in and tells them they have a cavity. Other times I will point an area out to him, and he says it’s nothing. It makes me feel really dumb. I’m just wondering how long it took everyone to become more comfortable finding possible decay?
