I have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome after 30 plus years of dental hygiene. When I have surgery can I return to work as a clinical dental hygienist.

I agree with Sue, I would speak with your surgeon. I know quite a few people (that are not hygienists) that have had this surgery and have done great afterwards. I would take your healing slow and not rush or push yourself to get back to 100% quickly. Possibly physical therapy can help you with getting back to work.

I have had two patients that have had carpal tunnel surgery and the both did great. I am not sure about doing hygiene after though. I would ask these questions of your surgeon and then weigh the risks. Are you able to practice now with your condition?
