Is brachioradial pruritus common in our field?

I was just diagnosed with brachioradial pruritus. It is a neurogenic itch syndrome typically localized to the dorsolateral forearm. It stems from having a nerve in my neck pinched. Due to the neck strain hygienist are constantly under, I was wondering if this is common in our field?

I haven’t heard of hygienists being diagnosed with brachioradial pruritus. I can’t find any articles/research relating it to hygienists either. This certainly doesn’t mean you are the only one though, I just haven’t heard of any. Some researchers think this condition is caused by sun damage and not due to nerve infringement, which is another interesting part of this. I sure hope your doctors can find a way to give you some relief, I can only imagine how uncomfortable this is for you!
