Is it possible to work during hygiene school?

I’m currently a dental assistant student in my senior I fell so in love with dentistry that I want to go further and continue my education to become a hygienist…only thing is I have 2 children with little support I’m worried that it may be to much for me to handle I really need to work after I graduate my D.A program is it possible to work while in hygiene school am I boring off to much to chew with the responsibilities I already have please anybody help any advice is appreciated

Anything is possible if you want it bad enough! However with that said, it’s generally not recommended to work during hygiene school. Many hygienists take out loans to pay for school and living expenses as the program can be intense. It’s extremely important to learn the information not just memorize and that takes time, so you need the time to accomplish that. I’m not saying it can’t be done, just that it’s not recommended.

I worked part-time while in hygiene school, while going through a divorce and caring for 2 young children. Yes, it can be done, but you must be determined and motivated. For me, my kids inspired me to keep going because I knew I needed to support them. I had no life for those few years and studied day and night but I finished! Prepare ahead of time and ask for help. I also got a lot of help financially with grants for college because I was a single mom. I hope this is helpful and good luck!
