Laser/LANAP in the office

Wondering what others laser protocol was in their office. We have a Laser but don’t use it in hygiene yet. Might start to do so if appropriate for patients.

When do you recommend it?
What code does your office charge it under?
The range of cost?
Per tooth/ per quad?
After SRP?
Post op instructions for home care?
Brushing/ Flossing
Re-care options?
When appropriate to probe again?
Hygienist use/ Doctor use?

Depends on the state laws whether hygienist can use the diode laser. Not sure about fees and codes. Search RDH magazine for CDT codes. LANAP is never a procedure utilized by the hygienist. LANAP is a surgical periodontal procedure. Hygienists can only provide non-surgical Periodontal Therapy.

We provide laser tx to all SRP patients (completed at the end of the SRP appt). We do not code it because it is included in the SRP tx cost. Then we recommend it to any pt that show gum infection at $30 flat out of pocket cost. Per tx (however many tooth/quads). We have one laser for hygiene dept and another for the dentist.
