Local anesthesia class compensation

I’ve been working in an office for over 10 years; with my hygiene curriculum I had to take the local anesthesia class to pass. I had to borrow money to pay for the class. I heard my boss tell our other full time hygienist that he was interested in her taking the class for local anesthesia and he would cover the cost. Does this seem fair? Should I ask for compensation or am I over reacting?

I would say that it’s definitely a double standard that he would pay for one person and not the other, but if it’s been over 10 years since you took the class then the time has probably passed to asked for compensation. I would just let it go and not let it bother you too much. Obviously easier said than done, but if you let something like this stew inside it can lead to bigger problems down the road. The one redeeming factor may be that in the future if there are CE credits or something that you could take, maybe your boss would help cover some of those costs.
