Malpractice insurance

Do I need to purchase my own malpractice insurance? Would my dentist’s license really cover me in a lawsuit against the practice?

It’s a smart idea to have your own malpractice insurance. There are many reasons to cover yourself. For instance, if you are named in a suit and the suit exceeds the doctor’s limits of coverage you can be left on the hook or if you are named in the suit directly and the doctor is not, you are on the hook. Here’s a great article that explains more in depth: http://www.rdhmag.com/articles/print/volume-28/issue-10/feature/prevention-vs-prosecution.html
