In my opinion, which toothbrush does better depends on the patients brushing technique. I’ve personally seen better results with the Sonicare. A Sonicare basically does the work for you by just brushing regularly. When using an Oral-B, a person must go around every tooth. So it depends on how a person brushes, on an individual basis. Not a definitive answer because it really comes down to the individual persona and brushing technique.
I agree that it all comes down to what brush a pt will use. For me, personally, I prefer Sonicare 100%, although I’d agree that they clean comparable and far better than a manual. For some reason I feel cleaner using Sonicare vs Oral B. Also, Sonicare says the patented way their brush moves whips the toothpaste/saliva/water in your mouth into a foam which can push fluid btwn your teeth to clean beyond where the bristles actually touch. Oral B is more mechanical and “clacky” sounding, which I don’t care for. Some pts have said the vibration of the Sonicare are too much and they don’t like it, so I usually recommend splurging for one that has the 3 speeds so you have the option of turning the speed down if you need.
