Other hygienist “cherry picks” her schedule

How do you handle a hygienist that cherry picks her schedule with the help of our receptionist which is her good friend? All difficult children, patients or difficult cleanings are sent my way. The receptionist, by the way, is related to the doctor.

You need to call a meeting with the doctor and voice your concerns and then ask the doc to help you discuss this matter with the receptionist and the other hygienist. The difficult cleanings may need to be transitioned into Perio treatment thus helping you with your production goals….that could be a Bonus for you getting those harder patients. Do not got into the discussion mad, blaming or accusing just state the facts and act as if you are trying to help the practice become more efficient. Print the schedules before those two make the changes and print the schedules showing after those two made the changes to prove your case. Make sure you do this for several weeks or months so that the doc will see the pattern of changes. This will need to be planned and until you have all your proof and ammunition only then do you go to the doctor with the findings.
