Production Goals

My new daily production goal is $1500. My office bases production on insurance rates and discounted rates. So for an HMO patient, my production is $0.00. For a $49 Groupon, my production is $24.50 for that particular patient. Needless to day, I feel as though this is an impossible number to reach. What does your office base production numbers on, insurance rates or the office UCR fees?

Basing production and goals off of collection does make it difficult to reach production goals! I totally understand why you feel like your goal is impossible to reach, because it is!

I am a firm believer that not only should your commission/production be based off actual production (UCR fee), but so should your production goal. NOT based off collections or reduced rates (Groupon). You have no control over what the office collects or “specials” the office decides to run, but yet you still did the work.

On a side note, I don’t know what state you are in, but in Oregon (where I am licensed) offering Groupons for dentistry is illegal. So that may be something you want to look into for your state. Just a heads up there.
