I am a bit new to our awesome career 🙂 and I would like to know the fair pay hourly or day pay for a new graduate in the State of California (specifically Southern California). I am also interested in knowing more about how production/collection works for us hygienist, since i’ve been asked about this in interviews. Are there hygiene websites where I can educate myself more on this topic?

To find the wage range for your area, its best to check your state’s employment department website for occupational wage breakdowns. Wages vary not only state to state, but county to county, so this is why going directly to the state’s source is more accurate than generalized websites like salary.com or other “salary surveys” I’ve seen floating around online. Regarding salary based on production, the industry standard is about 35% of what you produce, NOT what the office collects. If you Google something like “dental hygienist production” or “dental hygienist hourly vs production” many articles should come up, as many great authors have addressed the subject. Good luck!
