It depends on if you are talking about the whole appt time being only sch. For 30 mins or an hour appt. I have an hour for prophy’s and there are some really healthy Pts that can be cleaned in 30 mins. I don’t think other hygienists should be so quick to judge others. Every pt and the circumstances surrounding the appt are different. If the pt and/or hyg talk a lot during the visit, they may not even realize it and it will take longer than 30 mins. If you have a healthy mouth with very little chit-chat a thorough prophy can still be done. Especially if you’re not waiting for exams and the doctor comes right in. #stopbeingsoharshtofellowhygienistspeople!

You don’t ever throw another hygienist/DDS under the bus. You can explain that she has had perio. And that maybe it was stable for awhile before they saw you. But today you are noticing some changes to active perio w/ inf. that should be treated now. You cane cola in that is normal to have to have SRP every couple of years to help maintain their perio condition

Over 16 years of working with both, I definitely think working with a male dentist is easier. It seems as though the female dentists are always trying to prove something. They let their emotions sometimes get the better if them in the work place. Very rarely does that ever happen with a male DDS. There is nothing worse than knowing your female DDS boss is in a bad mood because she will take it out on the while office all day! This has happened with many female DDS over the years!
