Sharpening

Has anyone ever used the new edge technology sharpener? I cant stand what they have us use in school. Which is the gleason glide. Its so hard to use and I tend to almost over sharpen my Graceys.

I love the Gleason Guide! I use it over the Sidekick! I hadn’t heard of this new sharpener until I read this question, so thanks! If you don’t like sharpening I would like to recommend American Eagle XP Technology. You never sharpen these instruments! They don’t use a “coating” to stay sharp like other companies. An analogy for you:
We all know that when we paint something its on the surface. After this paint dries, I can come back and most likely pick it off with my finger nails, right? But if I am to stain this piece of wood, it is embedded into the surface, I can’t wash it off or even pick it off with my nails. This is how the XP Technology works; the hardness is built right into the substrate of the instrument. So if sharpening isn’t your thing, these instruments totally solve the problem!

I’m not sure I guess we just use sharpening stones on our office. We have fine and medium depending upon how much we want/need to sharpen.

I use the D.I.S.C sharpening wheel. It has a guide that lines all the angles up for you and is almost fool proof. It took me a while to get sharpening down and feel like I am still not that good at it. I hear the SideKick from Hu Friedy is nice but have never used it. I know they have a free CE about sharpening called “Its About Time” that you can check out for a better explanation. It helped me better understand the angles.
