What happens if you fail the NBDHE the 5th time?

My daughter passed dental hygiene in college on the deans list, then she passed her clinical with a 100. she has taken her written board 3 times and failed it within 2 points all 3 times. Now she has to wait a year to retake it again. If she fails it 5 times (which that what we understand the amount of times she has to take it) what happens then. Do we have to go back to dental hygiene college and start over or what… Please help me if you can. She wants to just give up. She really smart with hands on things but written test she get scared and can’t seem to pass. Any advice you have or answers please let me know.

First, let me just say you are an awesome mom! Please tell your daughter to hang in there and not give up! To answer your question, if the written board is failed 5 times, an applicant needs to petition the ADA to take it again. I highly suggest attending board reviews and taking practice tests. Sometimes just figuring out what the actual question is about is harder than figuring out the answer. I wish your daughter the best of luck!
