It really just depends on your personal preference. The Hu-Friedy colorvue replaceable probe is not one of my favorites (http://www.friendsofhu-friedy.com/UserFiles/File/Colorvue_FOHF.pdf). I only use it on implants. I find it is very flimsy, it loses its color quickly, and breaks easy. However, my doctor likes it. I like a basic metal 3-6-9 yellow banded probe (http://am-eagle.com/products/se-probe-12-aka-probe-4-yellow).

I like the Hu-Friedy colorvue. Just replace the tip when it starts wearing off the black marks or breaks. It’s lasted a long time for me. I can see so much better with this probe.
