When to ask for new instruments?

I recently started at a new office and the instruments that I was given to use are awful. When is an appropriate time to ask for new ones?

The life of an instrument used everyday and multiple times a day is around 24 months…..that’s being generous! The more an instrument is sharpened the smaller the tip is and could break off into the gingiva……I bet in your office there isn’t an instrument magnet to remove it if it does break. Show the dentist studies of instrument life and what instruments you’d like to have and discuss options for sharpening the instruments. I never have time to sharpen like I’d like to.

Immediately. If the office is concerned about good patient care at all, they should be happy to get you instruments that allow you to treat their patients with the best of care.
