Which instruments are the best for SRPs?

Hello. I was given the responsibility of keeping up with ordering supplies and I noticed that I don’t have much to work with when it comes to SRP’s. Which ultrasonic tips are the best for tenacious calculus and which hand instruments should I always have for SRPs?

Which instruments you choose for SRP really depends on what you like, are most comfortable scaling with, and are most effective for you as a clinician. It’s like choosing a pair of jeans; just because one pair is perfect for someone, doesn’t mean they will be perfect for you. Some hygienists swear by site-specific currettes like Graceys. Other hygienists don’t care for Graceys at all. Here is a great powerpoint from Loma Linda University on order of instrumentation that may help: https://www.slideshare.net/JaneenDuff/order-of-instrumentation
As far as ultrasonic inserts, It depends on which unit you are using. If you are using a Dentsply Cavitron, the manufacturer recommends using Cavitron Powerline ultrasonic inserts for moderate to heavy calculus.
